Pinus Montezumae

The name Montezumae honors the Montezuma pine (Pinus montezumae), a species native to Mexico that grows proudly in the heart of the country and in the imposing Sierras Madre Oriental and Occidental, from Durango to Chiapas. This tree, also known as Ocote blanco, Juncia or Pino ocochamate or Pino real (CONABIO), represents the resilience, depth and natural richness that inspire our vision.

Our commitments

For Conservation

Integrated environmental services projects that promote rural territorial development, with sensitivity and commitment to the conservation of forests and communities.

Territorial Rural Development

We are an interdisciplinary research and work group with more than 20 years of experience in sustainable forest management, community governance and development of integrated environmental services projects.

Communities that transform territories

Community projects

Our projects are based on a holistic approach with communities at their heart. By combining carbon sequestration with biodiversity conservation and water security, we strengthen community livelihoods and promote sustainable territorial development.

Collectively managed forests

We promote collective and responsible forest management, integrating traditional knowledge with innovative technologies. This shared governance ensures that project benefits are distributed equitably and that ecosystems are conserved over the long term.

Participation of women and youth

We encourage the active participation of women and youth in all stages of the project, from planning to implementation. This not only empowers new leadership, but also strengthens the social fabric and ensures an inclusive and sustainable perspective in decision-making.

Our

Allies

With each goal, we strive to create a lasting and positive impact on the environment.

Facilitate analysis of the global climate crisis, biodiversity and water loss, in collaboration with forest communities, to understand local and global impacts.

Define and propose local strategies for channeling global solutions that dynamize the flow of investments for the benefit of community processes for biodiversity conservation and water conservation.

In collaboration with the communities, identify fair and attractive financial vehicles to implement solutions in the territory, linking actors of the voluntary carbon market.

Develop carbon sequestration projects in community forests with high technical quality standards.

Advise communities on the sale and marketing of carbon credits in both the voluntary and regulated carbon market.

With carbon sequestration revenues, develop community initiatives for biodiversity protection, water conservation and replenishment, sustainable agriculture, social development, rural culture, strengthening community governance, to increase the integrity of carbon credits.

Accompany forest owners in the maintenance of the projects and monitor their positive impacts on the environment, biodiversity conservation, water, human and social development of the region.

Create a space for exchange and interaction between communities, experts, investors and socially responsible companies to promote solutions from and for nature.
